A Proven Blueprint for a Healthy and Effective Church Communications Ministry

Learn the step-by-step process to build a communication structure that works

For much of my career as a communications director in my church, I was reacting instead of leading. That’s a big part of why I burned out. You can only react for so long before it takes a toll on you.

I took a year off from church communications after the pandemic. In that time, a lot of healing took place. As I began leaning into church communications again with my business, I had countless conversations with creatives who were where I was–struggling to stay afloat and not really sure what to build to help.

That’s why I developed the Healthy Communications Ministry Blueprint. This course walks you through a crystal-clear process to build effective and sustainable communication systems for your church.

The result? You’ll be able to help your church communicate more effectively than ever before AND you’ll be much less susceptible to burnout.

Who this is for:

  • If you’re constantly overwhelmed with last-minute requests…

  • If you feel like leadership doesn’t understand what you need to succeed

  • If you’re trying to bring structure to your ministry but don’t know where to start…

This Blueprint is the step-by-step guide you need to get unstuck and build a system that works.

But maybe that feels impossible.

There’s a good chance you were handed church communications without guidance or experience. You’re trying to build a ministry that grows with your church’s needs, but no one seems to be listening. That makes it even harder to create the impact you know you’re capable of.

I get it. I’ve lived it. And more importantly, I’ve made it to the other side.

That’s why I built this course—to help you create the right strategies and roll them out in a way that gets leadership buy-in.

But before you read any further, know this:

This is not a “no-work” solution.

I’m not handing you a copy-paste answer. In fact, trying to copy what worked for another church could cost you time, resources, and credibility.

This course doesn’t give you a one-size-fits-all plan. It guides you through building the right communications strategy for YOUR church—one that actually works for your team, your leaders, and your congregation.

Ready to Build a Communications Ministry that works?

The Healthy Communications Ministry Blueprint is a self-paced, on-demand course that gives you everything you need to structure, streamline, and lead a church communications ministry that works.

Here’s how it works:

  • Step-by-step training: Each lesson builds on the last, walking you through creating a communications ministry that aligns with your church’s mission.

  • Hands-on workbook: Every session includes a guided workbook that, when completed, becomes your church’s custom communications blueprint.

  • Lifetime access: Revisit lessons whenever you need them, without worrying about losing access.

Want ongoing support?

This course is fully self-paced, but if you want live coaching, mentorship, and a community of church communicators to walk with you, consider joining the Healthy Creative Ministry Skool group.

What’s the difference?

  • The Blueprint gives you the plan—structured lessons to help you build a communications ministry that works.

  • The Skool group helps you implement it—with weekly live calls, discussions, and help navigating specific challenges you face.

Heads up: Access to the course is included with your Skool group membership, but only while you’re subscribed. If you want lifetime access to the course, buying it separately is the better option.

What's in the course?

Here’s what’s included:

  • Digital PDF workbook that will become your healthy communications blueprint

  • 13 lessons to guide you through every step of the process

  • Exclusive access to quarterly live QA&W streams

Here's what the course covers:

Section 1: Start with a clear vision (3 sessions)

If you and your leadership aren’t on the same page, the tension created will grow into toxicity. You’ll be frustrated, they’ll be frustrated, and the church will be less effective because the communications ministry isn’t working. We’ll talk about how you can build an effective partnership with leadership.

Section 2: Build the right systems (4 sessions)

You don’t need dozens of systems to be effective in your communication. In fact, having too many systems is often worse than having too few! We’ll cover which systems you need to have and how to build them in a way that is compatible with your church's culture.

Section 3: People-first implementation (3 sessions)

Systems help no one if they aren’t adopted. A heavy handed approach to systems turns the communications ministry into the policy police and damages relationships across the team. We’ll talk about healthy strategies for rolling out change and creating buy-in across your ministry.

Section 4: Nurture healthy momentum (3 sessions)

Having a long-term healthy communications ministry takes maintenance and investment. We’ll talk about ways you can keep your ministry healthy long after you’ve built it.

Long-term support (ongoing)

When you enroll in the course, you’ll get exclusive access to quarterly, live Question, Answer and Win streams where current and former students can ask questions, get answers, and share wins.

Matt is a Church Comm and Creative guru. I really believe it. He is so efficient and effective in his outsource help to churches and very flexible and understanding of the pace of working with church leaders. On the side of creative teams and culture Matt has deep insights that have formed and shaped the process of intake, management, and execution for our creative team at High Desert Church. He is amazing at finding problems in a system and offering a myriad of solutions. If you need a creative team turned healthy or help as a stop gap for a season I couldn’t recommend Matt enough.

So, are you ready?

Are you ready to stop scrambling and have a clear plan to help your church communicate effectively—even as things keep changing?

Taking this step isn’t just about enrolling in a course. It’s about investing in a healthier, more effective communications ministry—one that serves your church well without burning you out.

I know the weight of this work because I’ve lived it. I spent years trying to navigate the ever-changing world of church communications, searching for a better way.

This is the roadmap I wish I had.

If you’re ready to step into clarity, confidence, and a system that actually works, let’s do this together.

Frequently asked questions

Is this just a bunch of downloads that you talk through in videos?

No, this isn’t just a bunch of downloads. It’s a guided system to help you build a church communications strategy that actually works.

The PDF workbook and video lessons work together to walk you through each step of the process. By the time you finish, you’ll have a fully developed, customized plan for your church.

Your completed workbook will be:

  • Your strategy playbook—guiding your initial rollout and getting leadership buy-in.

  • Your maintenance tool—keeping your systems organized and easy to manage long-term.

  • Your key to consistency—ensuring your communications remain clear, even as things change.

Is change actually possible?

In most churches, yes, real change is possible when you apply what you learn in this course. The strategies you’ll build will help bring structure, clarity, and leadership buy-in to your communications ministry.

It's also important to recognize that sometimes communications struggles are just symptoms of deeper church health issues.

This course won’t fix those deeper issues. But it will reveal them. And with that clarity, you’ll be able to make an informed decision about whether to stay and lead change—or whether it’s time to move on.

Healthy ministry isn’t a do-it-once kind of thing. What does ongoing support look like?

You’re absolutely right—building a healthy communications ministry isn’t a one-and-done process. It takes ongoing learning, adaptation, and support.

After studying how adoption has worked since launching this course, I’ve found that ongoing support is key to successful implementation. That’s why I’ve separated course content and community support into two distinct options:

  1. The Blueprint – A self-paced, on-demand course that helps you build your communications strategy at your own speed.

  2. The Skool Group – A mentorship community where you can get weekly live coaching, peer support, and direct guidance as you implement what you’ve learned.

This setup makes the Blueprint more accessible at a lower price while offering deeper, ongoing support in the Skool group for those who want it—and it’s still incredibly affordable at just $50/month.

If you want to keep growing and get live feedback as you apply what you’ve learned, the Skool group is the best place to get that support.

Check out the Skool group.

If you do this as a consultant, why launch this course?

When I work with churches to rebuild the health of their communications ministry, it’s usually a 9-12 month partnership—a level of investment that not every church can afford. Especially those starting from scratch.

That’s why I created this course. It gives you the same step-by-step framework I use in my consulting, but in a way that’s more accessible and affordable.

If you want the transformation this course provides but would rather have direct, hands-on support, I also offer one-on-one consulting.

You can set up a free exploration call here.

What if I don’t have a background in communications?

You don’t need formal training in communications to benefit from this course. Many church communicators were handed this role without a roadmap, and this Blueprint is designed specifically for people figuring it out as they go.

The course walks you through everything step by step, so you’ll never feel lost. Whether you’re a pastor managing communications, a volunteer learning as you go, or a staff member trying to bring order to the chaos, this course gives you a clear, practical framework to create a communications plan that actually works for your church.

What if my church doesn’t think communications is a priority?

You’re not alone! Many churches don’t fully understand the value of communications—until they experience what clarity, consistency, and strategy can do for them.

That’s why this Blueprint isn’t just about tactics—it’s about getting leadership buy-in. You’ll learn how to:

  • Align your work with your church’s mission so leadership sees the value.

  • Use systems to reduce last-minute requests (so you don’t feel stuck in reactive mode).

  • Make a case for better communications—without feeling like you’re constantly fighting for approval.

If you’re struggling to get leadership on board, this course will equip you with the tools and language to start a meaningful conversation about making lasting changes.

How much time will this course take to complete?

The Blueprint is self-paced, so you can go at your own speed—but it’s designed for action, not just information.

I recommend working through one section per week. This gives you time to:

  • Fit it into your busy schedule without feeling overwhelmed.

  • Apply the action steps and see real progress as you go.

  • Have key conversations to get buy-in from leadership.

A full communications rollout should take about six months:

  • First 3 months – Work through the course, build your strategy.

  • Next 3 months – Implement your plan and refine as needed.

Even if you only have an hour a week, you’ll still be able to make progress and start building a healthier system.

If you want extra accountability and live coaching, the Skool group is the best place to get ongoing support.

Will this work for my church size?

Absolutely! The Blueprint is designed to adapt to churches of all sizes, from small teams to multi-campus ministries.

Because every church’s communications needs are different, this course doesn’t give you a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead, it helps you build a strategy that fits your church’s specific needs.

If you’re a one-person comms team (or even a pastor handling it all yourself), this Blueprint will help you create a scalable system that works—without burning you out.

Founder of Lunchtime Heroes

Having served in creative ministry since 2002, I’ve served in a variety of roles ranging from graphic designer to Creative Minister. In that time, I’ve seen toxicity spread through organizations when not addressed, led unhealthy teams back to health, and recognized that a creative ministry can only be effective if it's healthy.

I started Lunchtime Heroes in 2022 to help churches like yours build a healthy creative ministry. I've had the pleasure of working with churches, individual creatives, and non-profit organizations across the country.

Outside of building healthy creative ministries, I enjoy making music under the name Comfy Socks, BBQ, coffee roasting (and consumption), and gaming with friends.
