Hundreds of resumes and portfolios have come across my desk over the years, but most of them were ruled out within a matter of minutes.
It was frustrating from my perspective because I was open to a lot. A designer right out of college? Great! A self taught designer? Awesome! Coming from another ministry? Sounds good! Looking to transition into ministry? Exciting, let's do it!
Regardless of the background, there always seemed to be a glaring issue with most of the applicants.
Over the years of resume screening, portfolio reviews, and interviews I started seeing the same issues emerging over and over again. Applicants kept making the same mistakes when applying for a church creative job and it was preventing them from getting the role they were applying for.
The reality is this: applying for a creative job in the church is different than applying for a creative job in the design industry.
I've been on the other side of this, too. I've applied for creative roles and not gotten them. I didn't really know what I was doing wrong until much later in my career. That's why I've created this mini-course. You'll learn 7 critical steps you need to take so you can land your next church creative opportunity.
I don't want you to keep missing the mark like most creative applicants are.
I'd love to help you land the church creative opportunity you are applying for!
Owner of Lunchtime Heroes
Having spent over 20 years in creative ministry, I’ve served in a variety of roles ranging from graphic designer to Creative Minister. In that time, I’ve seen toxicity spread through organizations when not addressed, led unhealthy teams back to health, and recognized that creative teams can only be effective if they are healthy.
I started Lunchtime Heroes in 2022 to help churches build healthy creative teams and have had the pleasure of working with churches, individual creatives, and non-profit organizations across the country.
Outside of building healthy church creative teams, I enjoy making music under the name Comfy Socks, BBQ, coffee roasting (and consumption), and gaming with friends.
